2025 D&D Gift Guide: Totally Unique Gifts for D&D Players
Finding gifts for Dungeons & Dragons fans can be tough, especially if you’re not a D&D fan yourself. Lots of folks out there are wondering what’s a good gift for someone who plays D&D or searching for a 2025 D&D holiday gift guide to help them decide. But a lot of these recommendations end up looking very similar. Dice. Official D&D books. Gaming accessories. And many D&D players already have those things! It’s usually a better bet (and a nice touch) to pick out a gift that’s truly unique. With that in mind, here is Young Dragonslayers’ 2025 D&D Gift Guide!
Note: We only share games and resources we’ve used and/or highly recommend. If you end up picking up a gift through any of the affiliate links on this page, we get a small commission (at no extra cost to you) that goes towards our YDS Scholarships.
Try This Gift For D&D Nerds Who Love Science
We found a great gift for D&D players who are scientifically minded – the kind who calculate exact distances for fall damage or look up real-world poisons during a session. Dr Dhrolin’s Dictionary of Dinosaurs is a book filled with scientifically-accurate dinosaurs, environments, and plants for D&D campaigns (not to mention dinosaur-themed races, subclasses, items, and even rules for taming and riding these prehistoric creatures)! It was created by PalaeoGames, a team of palaeontology research scientists, palaeo-artists, and game designers who love Dungeons & Dragons. (If you’re curious about their research process, design philosophy, or the dinosaur statblocks they created, check out our article about their work.)
Gift Idea for D&D Fans Who Love Stranger Things
The crossover between Stranger Things fans and D&D fans is strong. And it’s only natural – D&D is basically its own character in the show! While there are a handful of official Stranger-Things-themed D&D gifts (and D&D-themed Stranger Things gifts), our choice is the unofficial but brilliant Kids on Bikes. This is one of our favorite games; we use it for our in-person groups and have even played it as the Young Dragonslayers team! The game was designed by two friends who grew up playing D&D in the 80s and fell in love with Stranger Things when it came out. Kids on Bikes takes place in a small town with big mysteries where you play kids and teens who team up to investigate them (with a super-powered friend, of course).
This Deck is A Great Gift For D&D Pickup Games
Playing Dungeons & Dragons can involve a lot of preparation. Building a world, crafting a story, balancing encounters – just a single session can involve hours of pre-work! The Deck of Dynamic Dungeons was crafted to get a game of D&D going quickly. Flipping over a card reveals the next room in a randomly-generated dungeon. Each card is a singular encounter that could have monsters, traps, puzzles, secrets, loot, or more! This lets D&D fans get right into the game (it even has pregenerated characters), and gives an opportunity for new Dungeon Masters to get their feet wet in a low-pressure environment.
Here’s A Spooky Gift for D&D Friends
If you’ve already got a group of friends who play D&D together, Monster of the Week might be the perfect gift. Sometimes, you need a break from D&D or you have a story idea that doesn’t quite fit the game mechanics. Other tabletop RPGs are a great way to freshen things up while still getting to play pretend and roll dice with your friends. We particularly like Monster of the Week because of its flexible gameplay, intuitive character creation, and fun combat mechanics. In each game, you play as a crew of monster hunters. You hear about some spooky or unusual phenomena, solve the mystery of the monster behind it, learn about its habits and weaknesses, track it down, and get ready for combat in an epic showdown!
Gift Ideas for D&D Lovers Who Like Nature
Nature lovers have lots of great options in D&D. They can play as a druid or ranger, cast nature spells, and even talk to plants and animals! But a lot of Dungeons & Dragons’ natural world is completely made up; you certainly won’t find an owlbear, beholder, or gelatinous cube on Earth. Book of Extinction fixes that problem. It brings nearly one hundred real-world extinct animals into the game of D&D, with statblocks, illustrations, and more. We got to talk with the creator on the blog, and he told us all about how he created fantasy versions of real animals (Studio Ghibli, anyone?) and consulted with scientists and conservationists to make the book as factual as possible. We were hooked. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get a copy under the Christmas tree in 2025, but the books are expected to ship in the first quarter of 2026, which might make the holidays last a little longer.
This Gift for D&D Fans Teaches Sign Language
Dungeons & Dragons turns out to be a great teaching tool. For starters, it’s fun, which makes sure everyone’s engaged, but also, it’s immersive, which gives a great opportunity for lessons that stick. The Oxenhams, a couple who worked at a Deaf charity, decided to try and put sign-language lessons in D&D. Eventually, they created Inspirisles, a tabletop RPG where spells are cast by signing! It’s set in a fictional version of the British Isles with a world based in Celtic folklore. You play as teens with the power of magic who set out to cast spells, solve puzzles, battle monsters, and heal the kingdom. It’s been used in classrooms, clubs, and homes alike as a way to introduce sign language while playing a cool game!
A Holiday Gift for Dungeon Masters
Dungeon Masters are in high demand (believe me, we know)! We get to run all kinds of games: for family, friends, and sometimes even game conventions, libraries, clubs, or community centers. But not every group has fun with the same plot elements, which could accidentally ruin someone’s game. The Deck of Player Safety is a great tool to make sure that doesn’t happen, especially in darker or spookier games. Each card in the deck has a common ick (like “characters dying” or “excessive bleeding”) or is left blank for dry-erase markers. Players pass around the table and anonymously pick out the stuff they’re not comfortable with, which helps the Dungeon Master make sure everyone has fun. It’s a clever idea and a beautiful tool to add to your DM’s repertoire!
The Best Gift For D&D Fans Is Getting To Play
All of these make wonderful gifts for Dungeons & Dragons fans. But all the D&D gifts in the world aren’t worth anything if your giftee can’t find a Dungeon Master and some friends to play with! That’s where Young Dragonslayers comes in. We’re a team of professional Dungeon Masters with backgrounds in therapy, education, and more who run online games of D&D for tweens and teens. We create groups based on player ages, play styles, and interests to craft custom adventures. You can literally give the gift of Dungeons & Dragons: a 10-session Dungeons & Dragons game with us, starting the second week of January. Click the button below to find out more!
